Front-end developer Long Hoang
In this part of the #SarakePeople series, we get to know Front-end developer Long. He shares his journey into coding, what drives him at work, and why Finland feels like the right place to do what he loves.
Tell us a little bit about your background?
I’ve worked as a front-end developer for 8 years, and for a little over four of those, I’ve been at Sarake. Over the years, I’ve built interfaces for a variety of projects – from large enterprise systems to lightweight web apps. I work mainly with modern JavaScript frameworks like Angular, React, and Vue.js. I enjoy writing clean, maintainable code and collaborating closely with UI-designers and back-end developers to create high-quality digital experiences.
Tell us about your work at Sarake?
At Sarake, I currently focus on Vue.js and GraphQL. My main projects include a document management platform and an online signature service. I’ve also contributed to some internal tools. My day-to-day involves building reusable UI components, designing secure and user-friendly interfaces, and handling data through GraphQL APIs. I work closely with designers, back-end teams, and testers to get features out efficiently and effectively.
What is the most interesting thing about your job?
What I find most exciting is the variety – working on different types of projects, solving new challenges, adapting to change, and learning from the creative, skilled people around me.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time, I like to go outdoors, read books, or watch movies. It’s a good way to recharge and balance out the workday.
What is your favourite memory from Sarake?
One of my favourite memories is our end-of-year celebration after finishing a major project. It felt great to reflect on all we had accomplished and then enjoy a nice evening of food and drinks with the team.
What is the best thing about working in Finland?
For me, it’s the work environment. Finland offers a great work-life balance, competitive compensation, and excellent benefits. It’s a great place to work and live.
Your favourite food?
I enjoy many types of food, but karjalanpiirakka with egg butter and smoked salmon is something I always come back to – simple, and always delicious.
